A Beautifully worn Huon Gulf Canoe Stanchion, Morobe Province, polychrome decoration, soft deep patina. Early 20th Century, Papua New Guinea. Rich Coloured ochres L91.45cm. Assembled vertically, prongs up supporting sitting and cargo platforms on trading canoes passing between Tami, Umboi and West New Ireland.
