A lovely pair of New Georgia Solomon Island shell rings

1st Diameter 15cm, Width 3.5cm / 2nd Diameter 14cm, Width 2.5cm.
One ring possessing a yellowish/orange adductor muscle stain, seen in fossilised pieces. The other which is a plain white ring. Both a valuable type of currency ring used an important part of ceremonial exchanges and barter; to acquire commodities and ritual knowledge concerning ceremonial contexts, maritime and land rights, for compensations and as offerings to ancestors.Tridacna is a genus of large saltwater clams, marine bivalve mollusks in the subfamily Tridacninae.
